Artist Statement

My work expresses the expansive, timeless experience of meditative mind states. Atmospheric and sensual, mysterious and organic, my paintings are glimpses of how the deep, transformational qualities of life manifest in the material world.

Painting involves, for me, a profound connection to the materials and an intuitive approach to color and light, allowing the impermanence of perception to become visible in multiple, subtle transitions from one color to another. The canvas is treated as though it stretches deep into the space behind its physical limits. With impulse and chance as tools to balance analysis, the painting evolves until it reaches a fragile state of equilibrium, a dynamic stability.

The illusory subject matter is intended to encourage contemplation, reflection and exploration.
